Eye of the Needle 1981
One thing that shows up in a lot of genre films is something that has sadly become more relevant lately. Nazis. We hate em right? A lot of exploitation films use them as general bad guys because it's a quick hand to say, "This person is terrible." From there, you can show them doing whatever you want, and the audience will agree that they are monsters. What if someone tried to humanize one?

You can't go a week without some sort of new superhero movie coming out. They all range from dark and brooding to light and inspirational. Just about any flavor you could want, there is a movie for that. Way back in 1980, you would be hard-pressed to find many superhero films. The 1978 Superman took the material as seriously as it could up to that point. Surprisingly, there would not be another big superhero film until 89's Batman.
