  I literally cannot explain this movie. I left the theatre close to an hour ago and I am still practically paralyzed by fear. Not traditional fears regarding monsters and death, although this movie is not lacking in them, but also in an uncontainable existential dread unlike anything I’ve ever experienced except in my bed in the dead of night when I wonder if I truly have a soul and if i do what lies on the other side of the veil. 
  I am horrified. I am horrified.

  Beautiful sets, a compelling story of the last lord of 10,000 years. It is a truly remarkable look at China as it transitioned through the beginning of the 20th century. Well worth the watch.
