The King of Comedy” was such a surprise. I went in expecting just another Scorsese-De Niro classic, but this movie hit way differently. De Niro as Rupert Pupkin is so awkwardly intense, you can’t help but feel for him and cringe at the same time. It’s honestly wild how much the movie nails the desperation for fame, especially with how things are now. The mix of humor and uncomfortable realism sticks with you, and it’s unsettling in the best way. Definitely one of those movies that gets under your skin and makes you think.

Trap 2024
Easily one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time. From the weak plot to the poor execution, it’s a struggle to find redeeming qualities. The pacing is off, the characters feel one-dimensional, and overall, it just lacks the impact it’s aiming for. I wouldn’t recommend this one.

12 Angry Men 1957
When a friend with questionable taste recommended 12 Angry Men, I wasn’t expecting much. But I was surprised by how incredible this film turned out to be. Set almost entirely in a single room, the story follows twelve jurors tasked with deciding a young man’s fate. The simplicity of the setting only amplifies the tension as each character’s biases and personalities emerge.

Magnolia 1999
A series of interconnected stories, all set against the backdrop of an ordinary day in the San Fernando Valley. Paul Thomas Anderson masterfully explores themes of coincidence, regret, and redemption, creating a tapestry of characters who are as flawed as they are compelling. The ensemble cast delivers powerful performances, with Tom Cruise, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Julianne Moore standing out. While the film’s runtime is long and its pacing can be slow at times, the emotional payoff is worth it.
