It's incredible how Ignorance and oppression can take you to the point of taking your own life, because, at least from my perspective, Neil thought "Either I live a life that is not mine or I die knowing that I accomplished something that I enjoyed." And it also has a really very warm message because most people (at least at that time) would think that poetry was something faggot or stupid, but it actually showed that it's a way of life, art and even friendship or love...
