  Like MASH, I watched Fame on TV and saw the movie much later. So the movie is so familiar, so foreign and so nostalgic when I watch. Made me want to spend my time with creative people. 

  Thoughts:
  Parents will always be embarrassing to kids.
  Never take a kid's birthday party as a gig.
  If you squint hard enough you can almost spot Holland Taylor.
  And how in the hell is this movie almost 45 years old?!

  Cute 60s fish out of water, everything goes wrong on vacation fluff. Debbie Reynolds and James Garner are charming as usual and it's a solid if not predictable rom com.

  I watched this movie because I'm currently reading Garry Marshall's autobiography and he talked a bit about this, his first movie. He had been working on the Dick Van Dyke Show and pulled in colleagues Ann Morgan Guilbert and Jerry Paris (Millie & Jerry next door) as the nosy "tourist" (natch)…

  Thoughts:

  What is there to say, but seeing this after 30 years, the production design is pretty insane. Nothin' but details, details, details.

  Pretty great soundtrack with Weird Al, Big Audio Dynamite and the B52s... and more.

  Liz Taylor looks fantastic even though her part was small, her waist was smaller!

  But, all in all, Betty's giggle is it for me.
