the title is definitely a bit jarring and grim, but it caught my attention (shocking). it's just such a charming indie movie that hits all the right notes. very creative and worth the watch. oh and 15-year-old me would have given this 5 stars and been unhealthily obsessed with it lol

the movie ends. you go to turn to your dad to comment on how great and well-done this movie was. he speaks first: "so...did the mom die?". you look at him for a second. you ask him how much of the movie he slept through. "none of it!", his classic response. you explain when the mom died. "well yeah i saw that part, but i didn't know it was her". yes, of course, it wasn't obvious or brought up after that scene at all to make it clear that she died...
