  I find the ending with Gene Hackman tearing his apartment to bits and playing his saxophone alone amongst the rubble oddly relatable.

  I find it hard for a biopic to not feel like an imitation. And I feel that more now when films are shot on digital cameras and plastered with pretend grain to make them look more like the era they're set. And I recognize the irony in saying that about movie where the best line is "You're pushing candles, he's selling light bulbs." It's a pretty good imitation.

  AI will be printing movies like Rustin in a decade. It lacks perspective, a filmmaking voice. The only air in this is from Colman Domingo who sings. I would’ve rather seen a simple informational doc about this.
