It's a Wonderful Life 1946
Embedded in its core with American mythology and idealization, with all their problematic facets (Mary seen as a complete and fulfilled woman only when married being the worst example), this movie sparks contrasting feelings. But, I think, being too cynical about it should be avoided. It does succeed greatly in its simplicity. It is true that you see your worth again when looking at how much your presence has been necessary to others. And it is also true that a man who has friends can't be a failure. And, also, that it's not just fantasy, but that friends do come to help.
