This was a fresh and very timely take on The Batman: less comic book superhero and more vigilante-cum-detective. For a movie where he’s behind the mask most of the time, he’s also suprisingly more humanised. We get to see him as a depressed and obsessed young adult working through his trauma through vengeance, before having to question his true motives as the rot in Gotham caught up to him.
Freshness aside, this movie’s 3-hour runtime was way longer than it had…
