This film doesn't shy from what it sells. In a time where we make excuses for terrible behavior from celebrities and idolize them if they were God's, this is a film that I have been itching for the last few years. Yes, it pulls from other movies but, this feels like it was done right. Short, sweet and to the point. Edebiri and Malkovich are amazing to watch. This movie does a good job of introducing story lines that have the potential to take the characters down interesting areas but cuts them out before you even can be invested. The drama is cut in half in everything it attempts. Beautifully shot and Ada was so precious that I even felt the joy. The ending is abrupt and doesn't seem to fit the rest of the themes. Maybe I had too high of hopes but feel a bit let down and left out from this one.

There's "Break up" movies and There's "bad day" movies. This one tops the list for me. What an amazing experience it was to watch this film. To slow down and take time with this and then to walk away and just appreciate every little, tiny thing in life. From start to finish this movie gives you pieces and fragments of the life of Hirayama just as they intended. The music and scenery tell the story and the emotions and dialog…
