  An essential coming-of-age story. Reminded me of old friends and simpler times. Somehow it made me feel optimistic about the future.

  Their family dynamics remind me too much of my own: nonconfrontational and passive-aggressive. I can see my mother somewhere between the old woman's silly little jokes and casually blunt remarks.

  And a little of myself on Ryota: burdened by expectations and disappointments, half entirely self-imposed. The ending got me a little emotional...he finally found his place 💚
