Wes Anderson movie on steroids
Set design is second to none in terms of what came out last year and the directing choices always swing for the fences and pay off every single time. Also a more than well deserved Oscar win for Emma Stone.I did feel however that the final 20 minutes was a bit anticlimactic and the whole past life subplot was heavily undercooked and needed to be its own dish in the films menu. Also kind of wanted to see more about her fascination with science and how the world around her influenced this.

Thoroughly enjoyed Mr Scorsese's recommendation here (via the man with the directorial debut with longer takes Mr Baker) although probably needs a second viewing as I only grasped the horror elements closer to the end of the film.
