The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001
It’s rare that I prefer the adaptation to a book over the book itself, but this is one of those situations.
This movie has everything that makes Tolkien’s story great in it, without the pacing problems. It manages to stick very true to the source material whilst improving on it. There are some instances where the movie differs from the book (Isildur actually fighting Sauron rather than taking the ring from Sauron’s body) but they have only a minimal effect.
