Made us more nervous than our actual black cats. Masterclass in nonverbal storytelling, and very beautiful. I really enjoyed how for the most part they didn't resort to making the animals just human stand-ins, but actually leaned into the different things that make each animal unique (although how they know how to [spoiler] I dare not question).

Very one of a kind. Although at first it sort of felt like I was "playing" a prequel to Stray or something, minus the controller, haha.

It feels like all the Italian films I watch are slow paced artsy types with slightly washed out palettes. This one tells a story of a broken man who is in love with a past he can only find fragments of. It has an endearing cast of misfit criminals and some beautiful cinematography, capturing a life spent searching for death on the edge of rural Tuscany. It strikes a nice balance between slow minimalism and overt plot/character development. It's worth getting immersed into.

This is the movie that "sold" me on slow cinema as a whole, and after watching a dozen more in that canon, including 4 more of Tsai Ming-liang's films, and this still remains one of my favorites. It can be easy to be a bit too indulgent in a particular extreme of style and sacrifice humanity for theme, but this one strikes the perfect balance between atmosphere, cinematography, and having characters that actually feel like they could be the sorts…

Really fun, witty and frequently nonsensical adventure featuring 3 lovable scoundrel characters (and one kinda ordinary guy). It was maybe also just an elaborate excuse to make a really good & catchy soundtrack, as music suffuses the movie throughout it's runtime to draw you in, in expert fashion (and I'm a sucker for strong use of music). Supposedly it's based on The Odyssey but I haven't read that thing since high school so I have nothing to say on that matter,…
