One of my favorite moments is when Mickey 17 says aloud that his whole life has been a punishment for pressing that button, and Mickey 18 rolls his eyes and turns to tell him “you know that wasn’t our fault”, providing the audience with the previously unknown explanation of the car defect. Often the only person who knows the truth behind our greatest fears and dysfunctions is ourselves, but parts of us are still scared to hear it.

Civil War 2024
The white American gaze, center-left it may be, applies a sort of dull misunderstanding to any possible meaning in this story. The journalism lens is particularly weak to watch as Israel murderously targets Gazan press. The two main characters being white women whose families are holed up in rural America pretending that a fascist war isn’t occurring was an interesting piece of it. Thought of Phan Thi Kim Phúc.

Wild Tigers I Have Known 2006
This film is serious in its dreaminess because it captures how, as a 13 year old, you conceptualize yourself ; you know how things are because you’re living them. Anyway thanks to this movie for taking small and funny-looking sad queer kids with weird family dynamics who like nature seriously. Middle school is hell but this is the kind of drama I was writing in my head while it was happening. Not a word of this has made sense but wildness you recognize on sight.
