  while a lot less narrative-driven than i’m used to, i think that the film really succeeds in conveying its themes of nostalgia and memory (both of which are topics that i particularly enjoy watching). tarkovsky is definitely — as of the two films i’ve seen of his — the most consistently amazing cinematographer. there are so many shots that are beautiful, especially the shot composition in the black and white scenes and the lighting during the scenes in color. as…
