Director has a great vision and perspective but should find a great dialogue writer to work with. The dialogue and beats were so on the nose that all nuance of this experience was lost. Too much “and then this” happens.

A one note tone poem that is more about showing emotion than creating it. I generally like slow, nonlinear, poetic cinema but I just hit a wall with this one and walked away frustrated. Maybe that's what the director intended with the constant lack of access to the characters' faces and words. If she meant to say, "you don't understand the lives of these women and never will" then she succeeded in that regard. It makes me a bit sad…
