    Whiplash

Holy shit. Whiplash is one of those movies that I’ve always “kind of intended to watch maybe at some point”. You know the ones I mean. And now, 10 years after the film’s release I’ve finally gotten around to it.

First and foremost, the film is absolutely fantastic. It felt self-contained (though not in a negative way) which allowed the storyline to really shine without too much unnecessary filler. ‘Whiplash’ did a fantastic job of making me feel tense while…

This film was absolutely fine. There is no better word to describe this film than just completely and utterly OK. It stars Aaron Pierre (who I had to look up to remember that he was in M. The Holdovers

    ★★★★

I went into this film not expecting much aside from a cheesy comedy but it turned out to be so much more.

The film took some unexpected turns that I was pleasantly surprised by, and ultimately ended up being a crucial lesson in not judging a book by its cover. It served a reminder to be kind to anyone you meet because you never really know what someone else is going through.

The ending was extremely bittersweet but overall I came away from The Holdovers feeling satisfied by the movie, and I would highly recommend it! Cheerio!
