Inside Man 2006
Spike Lee manages to invoke New York in the most wonderful and minute ways. The construction worker on the side of the street who knows Albanian. The request for a kosher hot dog from one of the hostages. This story couldn't happen in any other city in America.
The meticulousness with which Lee and Denzel elevate standard cop vs robber fare is so delightful. The always tight cinematography. Washington's signature charm working on the higher-ups and Clive Owen.
This should never be considered Spike Lee's best film but it's likely his most rewatchable.

It's hard to put into words *strokes chin* the impact this film has had on the culture. The most impactful film since Star Wars? Red pill/Blue pill has come to represent the entirety of digital life. We're all different levels of Neo seeing how far the rabbit hole goes.
