Whisper of the Heart 1995
I don’t think many people know about this Ghibli film; it gets lost within the success of the numerous Miyazaki films that followed it. But, truthfully, it’s an absolute treasure. From the cultural glimpse the movie depicts of late twentieth century Japan, to the moving struggle of a young middle school girl simply trying to understand what she wants to do with her life, and finally to the love she finds while encountering her self, there’s no movie I enjoy more than Whisper of the Heart.
