Scarface 1983
By then a mainstream story of a Cuban migrant realizing the American dream through criminal/underground instruments. Poor capitalist propaganda is seen in Tony’s motivation to commit crime after blaming it all on Fidel Castro. The protagonist is evil and shows dire tendencies from the very first scene. Inverse character development is visible in exponentially growing toxic ambition of Tony. Excellent depiction of defected relationships caused by money and drugs - Tony’s fading trust, Elvira’s dive to drug issues, Manny’s unfair return of favors.
