A Grand Day Out 1989
Might be my favourite British film series.
Love that this started as a student film, the creativity on show is amazing; from shining light off gold foil to create a bright flame and using sparklers as welding sparks.
This whole series is comforting entertainment and this is a great start.Translated from by -

Maddison is brilliant, a perfectly subtle performance. She shows slight glimpses of the emotions she went through whilst keeping a tough exterior which allows the ending scene to be so cathartic; a lesser performance would’ve ruined that. She deserved the win.
Otherwise a masterfully directed, edited and written film. A great example of why not expensive does not mean better, so glad this got the credit it deserves with the awards.
