  My first Charlie Chaplin film! In the spirit of New Years, I decided to watch Gold Rush for its New Years scene. Although one of the saddest scenes in the film, it was very light hearted with its dance sequences. The only thing I was not a fan of was the love interest cruelty towards Chaplin. Which made me not a fan of the ending

  Extremely suspenseful. It also had me thinking about all the practical logic I was missing to escape prison- which way to twist metal for maximum support against the braided rope.
