  YES let’s keep it silly!!! The way this film deals with such real, grim subject matter in such an unserious way is impressive and so fitting given the current state of our world. What better time than now to make an inflated satire of the country’s leadership?? 
  So many phenomenal performances from all around the cast. Every single character was off-putting ❤️

  The narration is honest and warns us first off that this is not a love story, and it’s so heartwarming and naive to root for their relationship anyways in spite of this warning. I think that’s the entire point. It is so easy to search for love in all places, to allow that fantasy to lift your feet off the grounds of reality, even just for a moment. I could see the tendency to initially side with Tom because we’re watching this through his lens, but it’s so painfully obvious that it was never going to work, especially upon rewatch :(

  Upon immediate first watch, I was thinking that this was just far too freak, just uncomfortable, feeling like I needed to take a shower…..
