Seen with age Henry at the Music Box in real 3D. Maybe the first 3D movie I’ve seen twice in 3D in theaters. Originally saw it in 3D in 2010 with my dad.

Capitalism offers the illusion of choice. Mike Wazowski gets a new car with all of these features that, worse than don’t matter, deter him from even using it for its initial purpose of transporting him from place to place. When you make a film so radical the West sentences you to many months in prison. Pasolini advocates for the starving and poor here in ways that pay homage to Chaplin, Marx, and even Christ himself. In the greatest of ironies, modern Christianity—shown here as vain, concerned with the glory of Christ’s image as he’s crucified—reacted quite harshly to Pasolini’s championing of the poor masses, which religion is supposed to champion as well. In La Ricotta’s case, the subversive content is so strong that the bourgeois’ reaction to it further proves the film’s point.
