Its criminal how bad Infinity Pool was. All the ingredients for my new favorite movie were there, with literally nothing to connect them in any meaningful way. A few great scenes. But there was hardly a character in the whole movie, just hazily drawn cyphers careening about in a weirdly high school, cliquish way.

First became aware of Michael Giacchino through his work as a composer, so was extra curious how this project would come off. The trailer had me at hello, and the telefilm was no disappointment. The art direction and set design are spectacular, the aesthetics are spot on perfect. Everyone involved did their job very well, all the way down the ladder.

That said, the whole thing felt a bit frivolous. I was expecting that, more or less, but even still.…
