There’s a lot to love about Lilim. It’s the classic Pinoy horror experience—religious mysticism, an old building in the middle of the woods, and bloodcurdling screams from the wonderful and talented woman-dominated ensemble.

It doesn’t try to do anything out of its own league and uses what great assets it has to deliver a fun and mostly thrilling experience.

One of the greatest to ever do it. David Lynch was a titan in the filmmaking industry and is always, I mean ALWAYS, in the conversation of the greatest.

Insidious meets Conjuring meets Feng Shui.

Another step in the right direction for Filipino horror. Both Papa P and JC Santos put up stellar performances enough to overlook the tacky script, a sign of great casting. The plot holes are not many, but can be caught easily. Definitely a weak point of the film despite the incredible cinematography and camera work, perhaps among the best I’ve seen in the genre locally.

Where this film fails to deliver, it almost makes up for with the alluring imagery, storytelling, and visual creativity.
