And to think there was a time where I gave this 4 stars. How silly of me...

Easily my favourite new release of the year. Incredible film with amazing practical effects, a great story, an engrossing style, and features one of the best endings I've seen in a long while.

Might grow to be an all time favourite. Loved it to pieces.

A good looking movie, good performances, and a gimmick, while a bit silly, makes the plot pretty engaging with its constant twists and turns.

That screenplay is questionable to say the least. Some pretty cringy lines, and a narrative that while fun with its non-linear structure, goes into very questionable territories. Announcing your movie's in 35mm is also extremely lame.

I was ready to give this a bad review given its reputation. But to my surprise, this has way more merit than I thought it would.

I'm not gonna criticize anyone who dislikes it though. It's a very triggering, nasty, brutal movie that pulls no punches with its subject matter. But I'd be lying if I didn't find it deeply effective in what it's trying to do, and found it surprisingly well acted (especially from the lead), well shot, and had more to say than your average exploitation movie.

    ★★½

Slightly better than the first one, but still has a lot of the same problems.

The visual effects are amazing and the ending had moments of fun action which I dug. But much like it's predecessor, the story and characters are completely generic, one note and boring. The dialogue hasn't gotten better either, and there are some lines that were either poorly written or incredibly cheesy. Every moment of humor fell completely flat for me, and lots of conversations sound like they were written specifically for the trailer.

One thing for certain though, it is absolutely, positively, one of the movies released in 2022.
