The Ox-Bow Incident 1943
At 75 minutes, it’s one of the shorter feature-length movies I’ve watched - which I think works in its favor. Not physically seeing how “good of a person” Kinkaid is doesn’t hinder the persuasiveness of the conflict. What I think this film shows is the dark side of human nature: mob rule, bystander effect, and culture of honor.

This film handles celebrity and fame so much better than The King of Comedy

The Visitor 2007
Finally, an ambiguous ending that I like! Jenkins does such a good job portraying how humans’ default following a tragedy is to isolate and struggle to put in the effort of overcoming it alone. I think the strength of the film is how important it is to form strong social bonds. May seem trite, but I find that to strike a deeper chord than the political commentary of the film.
