Jonny Greenwood’s string-focused score is a wonderfully clever depiction of Americana decay, referencing classics like the timbre of Aaron Copland’s The Red Pony, Hoe Down, Appalachian Spring, etc, and Samuel Barber’s Adagio, but seemingly aleatoric, corrupted, and deceptive. This perfectly mirrors the film’s central themes as the music descends from a more classic, open love letter to the western American landscape into the depths of a more structured cynicism. At times it can feel over-saturated, but I grew to really enjoy the maximalist thread between all the elements of the film.

Fantastic Planet 1973
Stream-of-consciousness tone and world-building, but still a very focused carefully-packaged universe. Definitely an inspiration in the boundaries of imagination and creativity

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 2008
What happens when you have a mediocre concept and nothing else. I was unfortunately not on the edge of my seat to see what happened when Brad Pitt turned from old man-baby into baby-old man
