This is a decent adaptation from the book. As with any adaptation, there is a lot of missing pieces because there isn’t enough time in a movie to add in every minute detail. However, the movie completely altered the ending from the book, likely for cinematic purposes. It also missed a major dramatic part from the book about Watney’s travel to the MAV.
It was a good watch, and very well produced, but didn’t necessarily fulfill all of my hopes and desires as an adaptation of an incredible novel.

Entertaining, but there is so much wrong with the plot. How can the main character see ghosts and interact with the past? Never explained. How can one woman get away with murdering 30+ high profile-esque men without ever being questioned? Unrealistic.
Altogether, a fun watch, without a doubt, but the plot holes are too much to look past for me to consider this a 4+ Star movie.Translated from by
