A very interesting depiction of events that unfolded in Korea when martial law was enforced. I liked the movie but felt as if they could have shortened it down by maybe 20 - 30 minutes and by doing so turned it in to an even better movie. But other than that, the movie introduces itself in a great way, the story is highly inspiring and evokes emotions.
One of those classic haunted house movies done right. Not a very unique plot but nonetheless high entertainment value. Also surprised by the high profiled cast, an aspect that probably helped lift the movie from decent to good. Enjoyed Ryan Reynolds creepy bloodshot eyes, nice touch.
I enjoyed this movie immensely. It’s almost as if “It” and “True Detective” had a child. Nick Cage is also doing a banger job of being proper creepy. I missed the marketing hype so my expectations were not through the roof going in to the movie, might also have been a factor as to why I was happily surprised rather than disappointed.
Going in to this movie I did not expect to see a 2h romance. It is not really my type of genre but I found it relatively interesting anyway as it had a lot of other aspects that tickled my interest such as beautiful scenes and great camera shots, lest we forget the dilemmas of the actions carried out. Slow paced and a sort of ethereal presence that I have come to understand is the style of Chan-wook.
