The Brutalist 2024
The first half is totally epic, the interval totally earned, and then the second half is totally...not.
The further away I get from it, the less there is to think about it. Very much a film of its moment (Trump, rust belt Pennsylvania, Israel, immigration) but will be forgotten by June.

As music biopics go, it was good - refreshingly absent of drugs and booze and actually interested in the music. I think Chalamet is totally fine but that it's entirely in keeping with his career that owing to the strikes he'll blag an Oscar, some people do just have all the luck.
Early in the movie Dylan takes his girlfriend to see Now, Voyager. Then, in the final act, when she's leaving him for the final time she trots out…
