  really wanted to love this.. couldn’t get over how dated it felt. beautifully crafted and impeccable acting but missed the mark in many ways and absolutely did not stick the landing

  Genuinely perplexed at how this has been heralded as a feminist reclamation of.... sex? "womanhood"? completely unclear, at least to me.

  Emma Stone revels in the full range of her talent, appearing fresh faced & made anew despite her on-screen veteran and multi-hyphenate status. Her character, Bella, reminds me of that feeble little horse lyric: "Steamroller you fuck like you're eating." Everything in her world is made sumptuous--from sex to food to language. And if it's not pleasurable, she spits it…

  I couldn’t get over the queasy beauty of it all. kept chanting in my head “I love this” after the first scene with the crocodile bashing its tail against the red fluorescent concrete. 

  can’t describe the form of deep, ancient nausea this movie produced in me. 

  there are so many scenes I just know will cling to my mind…
