my biggest gripe is that it needs to be more vibrant. every movie made these days falls into this issue, it seems, so it's hardly a critique exclusive to wicked. for a world as fantastical as oz, it is lacking in color and vibrance. yes I saw chu's response to this, but I'm not sure I buy it.
I have plenty good things to say about it, some bad, but overall I'm pleased! it was fun, and I think it's enjoyable for new fans and old.
watching this in a small local theater with just my gf and nobody else there really enhanced the experience for me. sorry this isn’t an actual review because i am not a movie critic but i was so deeply moved by this movie and it made me feel a lot of things i was not expecting. going into this movie blindly as a trans person will be an emotional gut punch you are not prepared for
it had some really good, creepy moments, but they were few. acting was not good and that's a big reason the score is so low. the few creepy moments it had were soooooo good though.
