    Quiz Lady - TIFF23 - 13/13
    No stars

Good girl Anne and flighty, train-wreck sister Jenny get together to cover their mother’s gambling debt and rescue their pug who’s stolen by their mother’s bookie.

Pure dreck. Not worth one minute of anyone’s time.

Why the fabulous Sandra Oh and the hysterical Awkwafina would have signed on to this stinker is anybody’s guess.

One need not be an artist, though it will help to be an art aficionado, in order to fully enjoy this stunningly exquisite film by the brilliant French director Céline Sciamma. I could rhapsodize endlessly about the magnificence of this cinematographic feat about unrequited love.

Set on an isolated island in Brittany in the late 1700s, a female artist is hired to clandestinely paint a wedding portrait of a sheltered, defiant, naive…
