Lost Highway 1997
Watched this by myself after trying and failing to get 3 separate friends to come over and join me. i was angry in the moment, but it ended up being the perfect ambiance for this. thought i wouldn’t like the soundtrack but I get it now. The mobius strip plotline is significantly less confusing when your eyes are dry/puffy from a quick 7pm lonely PMS weeping sesh

ok so technically this took me 2 tries to watch through but in my defense, i tried to watch it immediately afterwatching blue velvet and therefore started it at midnight. its a classic for a reason. i love sun-soaked dread. wish we could have seen it as a tv show like lynch originally intended.

Watched this movie under the idea of “seek the root, not the fruit”, but I can’t say that I liked it all that much. I see why it is important to the horror genre and appreciate it for what it is, but ultimately it’s paced like a 60s movie (slow, jerky), I could barely hear what the actors were saying (that’s on me for watching a bootleg probably), and Nell as a character was so grating that I lacked any sympathy for her. IDK a better environment for watching this one probably would have been with friends so we could riff.
