    Sorry I’ve been putting off the tumblr hall of fame films.

    Damnit, the aesthetic screen shot posters were right about this one. This is a love letter to solitude. We may yearn, pine, hope and dream for some inexplicable “other” to come along and make our lives worth the slog. And sometimes they do come around for a period. But, as they say, everything is temporary. Acceptance is key, and the company of ourselves will be the only relationship to stand the test of time. Better make that one the most interesting

    This would’ve been 4 stars until I did my research and found out Vincent gallo was not acting here. The tumblr virality of the on screen relationship between him and Christina Ricci should’ve told me enough about how toxic this was going to be. And I’m a little ashamed to say that if I saw this in ‘98 as a 4 year old instead of pokemon I may have perceived Vincent’s character here as some sort of  “cool guy” to aspire to instead of ash Ketchum. That would’ve altered the course of my life. Thank god I was a sheltered Christian boy right?

    “House of cards: The Catholic Church”

    Imagine if attempts at securing the US presidency had this many automatic disqualifiers. Having a child whom you did not father? Paying for votes in promises of high ranking positions? Being a rugged traditionalist and Islamophobic warmonger? Those traits might be shoe ins for government leadership- two of which easily spun into humanizing character profiles to manufacture relatability and one being the normalized expectation.  Or would that just be all of them? Anyway, poor…
