  Cautionary tale of drink driving…

  This was a pretty ridiculous watch - classic American escapism, with cliché motifs of institutionalisation, corruption and gang violence in the prison system. Entertaining watch though.

  This film feels way more salient now than when it was made - probably the reason why Netflix pushed it on me. Thought it was an interesting concept for a film and was well executed…although, I am finding Joaquin Phoenix a bit challenging to watch these days - not sure if it’s his whiny voice or awkward disposition - definitely won’t be rushing to watch another film he’s in any time soon
