was it funny? yes. entertaining? yes? oscar academy’s “best picture” worthy…? no…
i really wanted to love this movie and did at first, but the ending and lack of development of the female lead was hard to overlook. why is it that female characters always need saving? do women, particularly female sex workers, need validation from men to be happy and set free from their pain? why is violence towards women deemed to be acceptable if it doesn’t have “bad intentions?” is it so hard to develop a female character that isn’t bounded by the attention and validation of men? just some thoughts
