Emmanuelle 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
A powerful erotic drama-thriller that’s Lost in Translation meets Babygirl. Subtle and understated, if you peek beneath the surface you’ll find that the lead character is thoroughly developed, and that’s my favourite part of this film.

Nosferatu 2024
Finally watched this in a cinema with the intricate sound design from rumbles to shrieks, visuals fully embracing crushed blacks, and the 1.66 : 1 aspect ratio filling up almost the entire screen. This slowburn gothic horror is an utterly immersive spectacle, cementing Eggers as one of today’s best filmmakers (and probably the most “consistently best”).

Crocodile Tears 2024
Crocodile Tears is a complex character drama mixed with some moving depictions of romance, regular instances of humour, and sprinkled with just a few scenes of the supernatural. It's confident and meaningful with its three characters written in great depth and detail, yet not all is revealed. The producer said this took seven years to make and it was quite a sight to see each filmmaking lab and grant in the credits, going year by year.

I love the sheer patience of this blockbuster, often with no distinct character goal or mission. Instead it just takes its time bringing us through this journey. Led by subjective narration, time jumps, and constantly evolving, the film cleverly uses its concept to explore a range of quirky scenarios that left me…
