  a movie about “this fucking guy.” Joan Micklin Silver directs an honest portrayal of the nice guy persona that more often than not perpetuates violence against women. John Heard provides a flawless rendition of a man that refuses to realize he is in the wrong, and he sees himself a victim.

  there are so many things I love about this film. one day I will take the time to write about all of them, but for now I want to focus on two scenes.
  First, on the pink room scene with Jacques, Laura & Donna & the men from the roadhouse. 
  The sound design, the lighting are all so flawless to make you feel like you enter another realm. There is a blanket of sound suffocating you, the lights pulsing, the muffled dialogue.…
