Really, really enjoyed this. Somehow feels both fast-paced and slow burn; something to do with watching the protagonist’s deterioration and not understanding what’s causing it until late into the movie. The end scene with the monologue is so powerful, too. It ties the whole thing together perfectly. The movie also does a really good job in its portrayal of madness and how it creeps in everywhere, even where you feel safe.
4/5 because I wish we could have seen more of the fella in the caravan, and I thought the storyline with Pete and Audry was a little forced, detracted from the story somewhat.

I was excited at the premise/opening of the film - the mother-daughter relationships reminded me of Hereditary or the Taking of Deborah Logan, and the focus on a lone parent’s relationship with their child following a tragedy reminded me of the Babdook. Imagine the midpoint of those three movies, and then imagine that they do not have any payoff at all. To call this a slow-burn movie would be a mistake, because I don’t think at any point that it…
