This is an enormously ambitious film, but it doesn't quite manage to pull off everything as smoothly as Sayles' best films (among which I count Eight Men Out and Lone Star). The Adjuster 1991
This is probably Egoyan's best film, or at least nearly as superb as The Sweet Hereafter.
If I knew more about the Bible, I'm sure I could make something out of a Noah whose ark is a motel and Beelzebub(ba) urinating gasoline. At any rate, this movie is richly allusive and elusive, disturbing and engaging. Some warts can cover the whole sole/soul, you know.

Anora 2024
One of the joys of this film is in how absolutely naturally and inevitably it develops, while also being unexpected and freewheeling. It is both one of the most genuinely funny movies of 2024 and one of the most emotionally engaging (and devastating) without feeling tonally inconsistent. This is really a masterwork on all levels.

The Wild Robot 2024
This film starts well, but unity and focus start to dissolve as it seems to not make up its mind what it wants to be about. It's as if the filmmakers thought, "Hey, I love Wall-E, The Iron Giant, and Fly Away Home. Surely those could all just seamlessly blend together, right?"
Dear readers, just watch Wall-E, Fly Away Home, and, especially, The Iron Giant.
