The first act of Big Night was anxiety producing with the emotional weight of waiting for pasta water to boil. It took me awhile to get to the wonderful third act which was energizing, colorful and emotional like tucking into a great meal. The cast is amazing but I found myself wanting to like these characters more than I did. I also was left wanting to explore some of the relationships more too. There were some grand moments and some beautifully shot scenes but everything else around them was a little too slow and surface.
