The Devil's Bath 2024
Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala know how to make a genuinely creepy movie. Not one with a weak storyline and an even weaker ending. The Lodge was great, Goodnight Mommy was great, and so was this. Beautifully shot and just bleak and grim. Based on actual events where, mostly women in 1700s Germany who wanted to end their lives but thought suicide kept them from absolution would murder a child and confess to the crime, so they would then be absolved by a priest before being executed. Heavy.
