Watched for a college class, rewatched last year and again last night. Incredible but man it makes me super aware of puritanical cultural influences on my worldview lol.

Really poignant coming of age story that also provides thoughtful commentary on Mexican society especially in regards to gender and class. “Everything I learned about people, I learned from Thomas”

I think this is underrated? Not great by any stretch but I enjoyed it. Tells you upfront it’s just a dumb action movie and as long as you know that’s what it is it’s a fun time. Ties a lil too hard with the humor but some jokes that landed for me especially the references to Thomas the tank engine

Having Bad Bunny star in it only for him to have a few lines and play a Mexican cartel leader was a wild choice though

Watched this twice when it came out a little while ago. It really sets itself apart from all the countless movies coming out about a "multiverse". Instead of using the multiverse concept to give a dying francise new life its using it to show how differently an immigrant mother and her American born teenage daughter view the universe and think about life. You really get a sense of who they both are and its a super weird and fun movie. Gonna rewatch once I can.
