👻I’m a pretty sentimental guy, and I often find it hard to move on from good memories. I love how this movie explores that loss in such a realistic way. It’s a sad realization that everything we care about will eventually disappear.

Nomadland 2020
Similar to Zhao’s previous work, I genuinely admire how she strives for authenticity. It’s cool how she submerges herself in the nomadic lifestyle through casting actual nomads with no acting experience. But despite this authenticity and providing the audience with a taste of the recession’s repercussions, I still feel like it was romanticized to a certain extent. Granted I don’t know much about this era, but I wish to see more of the struggles faced by these characters.
Is it “the best film of the year”, as quoted on my Blu-ray box? I really don’t know.
