it isn’t only that each is a one-shot, the camera in Adolescence is actually being used as a tool to tell a story rather than as a tool to make coverage look as good as possible. people read filmic language! consciously or not!

the coolest thing about Soderbergh is that resting on his laurels would result in a bunch of movies this good and instead he’s addicted to trying interesting shit out. second coolest thing is that he occasionally makes one of these anyway.
unrelated but I’ve seen the trailer for that A24 Iraq war movie twice in a cinema in the last couple of days and both times the audience was sour on it immediately. woman sitting behind me today said “No thank you” when it ended and people kind of murmured in agreement.
