The Boy and the Heron 2023
Wow this was so beautiful and tragic. A gripping and utterly beautiful storyline. Illustrating the yearning for wanting something that’s been lost, living in the present moment with it, then looking back on it in happiness and relishing in the memory of how it was to experience it, even though it’s now gone. The boy and the heron has made its way into the Miyazaki rotation for me, the soundtrack now iconic in my mind, and the colouring and visuals will be hard to forget. Definentely excited to rewatch.
